I was born and raised in Cochin . During my High School days at St Mary’s Anglo Indian School,Fort Kochi, I developed an affinity towards Social sciences which led me to pursue Humanities for Senior Secondary Schooling at Sacred Heart Higher Secondary School,Thevara which ultimately paved way for Law School .
At 17 years I left Cochin for Pune. The new city was dipped in vibrant dreams with budding friendships and all things scholarly .Having pursued 5 years law from ILS Law College,Pune , my Odyssey for an LL.M with specialization buzzed and considering my upbringing in the colonial city of Fort Kochi ,my only choice was England. Meanwhile I was called to the bar in the year 2010 which made me every inch a lawyer with the ceremony in privileged robes at the High Court of Kerala .
Further at 23 years I moved to Nottingham,England the land of Robinhood, to continue my studies in Maritime Law at the University of Nottingham. As one would put it, England has her own ways to charm all its new visitors. Basically I was smitten by the old country side and the archaic cities which still stand strong with its great culture. The University and her flying swans became my new friends apart from the Indian students and few Nigerians & Eurasians. Post Graduate Studies as one would understand is a lot different, difficult and interesting from their Indian counterparts. On achieving my masters I did not opt to stay back in England as I was sure of not ending up in legal practice any time soon, considering the prevailing rules for foreigners in England.
By 2012 I was back at Cochin and ready to pursue my legal career. Since then there has been not a moment of boredom, as it was and it is full of ups and downs and all feelings in between just as same as any one in this profession. Apart from the legal practice I have also been fortunate to be invited for the post of ‘ Visiting faculty- Maritime Law’ at the Indian Maritime University,Kochi a Central University which comes under the Indian Ministry of Shipping.
On a personal note in 2018, I found love and got married to Kiran Cyrus, the Indo-Catholic way and we’ve been blessed with a baby girl named Michelle in 2019. We live at Cochin,Srinagar and Trivandrum . However my work base remains to be Cochin.
I am a happy enthusiastic self motivated girl who delivers lectures on Maritime law , attends cases at various courts of law, prefers mediation as the best method of solving debt recovery issues, goes beyond the line for the rights of women and environmental issues, hardworking when it comes to anything professional and enjoys drafting contracts as much as I enjoy a slice of Tiramisu.
An extroverted introvert who socializes with people of like minds , an art crazy person, gets charmed by everything about yesteryear stories , shares a special affinity towards pets, a big time foodie, crazy for solo long drives and loves her family to the core.
